Last week, we had a ywamer who is in full-time ministry in Kyrgyzstan. He was a great story teller, and brought the truth without sugar-coating it. It was great! Well, he was telling us about a group of Kyrgyz people who live in this remote corner of Afghanistan. It takes 5 days by car, and 4-5 days of hiking just to reach these people. It's an incredibly remote place, super high up in the mountains. A few years ago, Jeff and a couple other ywamers made the trek to try to find these people. When they got there, the people had never before seen a white person, and had never heard the name of Jesus. Jeff has made a couple trips now, and is planning to take another trip this coming year with his team of Kyrgyz staff. The trip will cost about $1000 per person, which is about a year's worth of wages for a Kyrgyz person.
Jeff shared at our Thursday night community gathering and the leaders asked how we could pray for Jeff & his team, and wanted to take a donation for them. There are 10 of them planning to go, so they need $10,000 to be able to go and minister to these people. A typical Thursday night offering is somewhere in the neighborhood of $4000-6000. At the end of the service, they made an announcement and the offering collected was $10,000.07!! God miraculously provided the money needed so now Jeff and his team can go into this remote part of Afghanistan, taking Jesus with them to these people.
Go God!
