Healings!

There are 4 teams currently in India, all staying at the same ywam base.  We’ve had cultural orientation classes, learned about Hinduism & Islam, learned kids songs and skits, all in an effort to better prepare us to minister to the people of India.  In the afternoons, we’ve all been splitting up and going to different slums and children’s ministries, preaching, sharing testimonies, playing games & teaching songs, but we’ve also been seeing amazing healings!  There’s been a blind woman receive her sight, a deaf man hear, a ½ paralyzed woman walk, and a woman with pneumonia healed.  It’s been so cool to see. 

Yesterday, my team witnessed another healing that was exciting to be a part of.  We went to ministry in one of the slum communities.  We entered a home where there was a woman who was crippled by arthritis.  She has had intense pain for the last 15 years.  She takes medication to help with the pain, but it causes her to shake uncontrollably.  We were there to pray for her, and she’s had prayer before, but the family is Hindu.  She is not able to really do much for herself and has her niece help take care of her.  As we were praying for her, I felt that there was some sort of black magic that was attached to her.  Joseph felt that she was to pray out herself and ask Jesus for her own healing.  The house was heavy spiritually.  In one corner of the room they had a little shrine set up to whatever gods they worship.  It was just heavy.

As we prayed for her, our translator asked her after how she felt.  She said the pain had lightened, but was still there.  So we prayed again.  Again she was asked how she felt.  The pain was almost gone.  We kept praying.  Her shaking was lessening.  Our translator helped lead the woman in prayer, so that she could ask Jesus for healing.  We asked her if she had the faith to be healed.  She said yes.  We prayed more.  We all worshiped, singing praise to God, entering into warfare.  We prayed more.  The pain was gone in her arms and legs, but was still in her neck and head.  We prayed more.  We asked her if she could move.  She got up, walked to one end of the house, and then to the other end of the house, and then back to us.  Her pain was gone.  She had been healed!

Along with her physical healing, her entire countenance changed.  She seemed more joyful.  She was smiling.  She even walked out of the house, to the gate, and waved us goodbye.  She asked us to come back the next day and keep praying for her.  This was amazing.  God is on the move in India!
